Terry Gudaitis to Discuss How Criminal Groups Impact Business Worldwide
through Internet-based Intelligence Gathering
| WHAT: | During this educational workshop on “Intelligence Gathering – How Criminal Groups Impact Businesses Worldwide,” Terry Gudaitis, PhD, Cyber Intelligence Director for Cyveillance, will outline organized (and not so organized) criminal groups and discuss how they impact business and government organizations. Criminals in today’s society are able to conduct their intelligence collections and attacks from any cyber-café in the world – miles or oceans away from their target by just using the Internet. As the Internet grows and becomes more diverse and prolific, so too will the organized groups and individuals who use this mode of communication for planning and targeting. Topics for the workshop include: terrorism, activists, hackers, phishers, and fraud rings. A discussion of how these groups operate, who they target, how they fund their operations, and how they cross-communicate will be included. The discussion and workshop will also include how to stay on top of these threats and design mitigation strategies to better protect organizations. Specifically, attendees will learn:

| WHO: | Dr. Gudaitis is a nationally-recognized authority on cyber security, cyber crime profiling and psychology. She has provided consultation and leadership in cyber crime to public and private industry including SAIC (Science Applications International Corporation) and NSEC (Network Security Corp.), federal intelligence agencies and bureaus, and law enforcement, focusing on domestic and international security issues. Dr. Gudaitis has served on the United States Secret Service Advisory Board for Insider Threat and trained investigators at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. |
