Carey International, Inc. Moves to Protect "Carey.com" Brand Leadership in Ground Transportation Services
Cyveillance Solutions to provide Carey with technology to combat online brand abuse and Internet traffic diversion schemes
Washington DC, June 20, 2006 – Carey International, Inc., the global leader in ground transportation and chauffeured services, has newly established the www.carey.com URL for its innovative Web site and signed an agreement with Cyveillance to protect the company's brand in the Internet marketplace. Cyveillance’s brand protection solutions provide Carey with technology to defend against online brand abuse, including misleading or fraudulent search engine marketing, Internet traffic diversion, and other “brand dilution” tactics and schemes.
Carey’s Web site can now be found on its easier-to-remember brand URL and the company has also assigned the ”@carey.com” address to all company email addresses. Carey continues to enhance the features of www.carey.com’s e-Reservation Center for on-line booking of chauffer drive services in 550 cities around the world.
The new carey.com address is an important step to overcome fraudulent examples of non-affiliated limousine companies using the Carey brand to market themselves to unwary online customers. To prevent further abuses and dilution of the highly-recognizable Carey brand, the company has contracted Cyveillance to find and correct brand abuses.
“Online brand abuse costs American companies billions of dollars each year,” commented Carey International President & CEO Devin Murphy in announcing the new guidelines. “Consumers are familiar with news about data security breaches and identity theft, but may not be aware that unscrupulous online marketers may represent themselves as something they are not. The customer assumes that the company who owns the brand will protect them against such false representation and that is exactly what we're doing. We want people who depend on Carey International as the gold standard in ground transportation to be confident that when they book chauffeured services on a site bearing the Carey brand that they are assured of Carey’s exceptional service and attention to detail.”
“With the number of online threats continuing to explode, companies need to take a proactive stance against the Web sites, companies and nefarious individuals that can infringe on their corporate reputation – not to mention use their corporate name to mask any number of illegal activities,” said Panos Anastassiadis, president and CEO of Cyveillance. “Cyveillance Brand Protection helps companies eliminate customer diversion schemes and reduce the chances their customers can be defrauded. As Carey International launches its new Web destination, Cyveillance is enabling it to protect customers, as well as its online branding investments.”
